M & E: How did Boob to Food come about, and was there a moment that made you realise this was your path?
Boob to Food started very quietly - just me sharing what I was feeding my daughter Florence on Instagram 7 years ago. Nothing strategic, nothing polished, just a mum sharing her kitchen and what was on her kids’ plates. But even before that, with my eldest son Flynn, people would constantly ask, “What are you feeding him?” because it wasn’t the typical baby food at the time. No rice cereal. Lots of bone broth, liver, sauerkraut… things that are much more common now (and maybe we had a tiny part in that shift!).
I’ve always loved teaching - I was a midwife and parent educator before all of this - so supporting parents felt really natural. Somewhere along the way it clicked that this wasn’t just a hobby. Parents needed this kind of calm, simple, “here’s what actually helps” support. That’s when I realised this was my path.
M & E: Looking back, what’s one challenge that shaped the way you run Boob to Food today?
Motherhood, hands down. Being a mum teaches you things no business course ever could - patience, presence, flexibility, empathy. It’s shaped the way I work and the way I lead. It’s made me value boundaries, rest, and honesty. And it’s made me build a business that understands the reality of life with little ones - beautiful but chaotic.
M & E: How have your experiences as a mum influenced the way you approach work?
Because I’m living it too, everything I create has to feel genuinely useful for real mums in real homes. I always ask, “Would this have helped me when I was in the thick of it?” That keeps the tone gentle, the advice realistic, and the whole brand grounded in compassion rather than perfection.
And before I became a mum, I spent years as a midwife supporting families from all walks of life. I’ve seen firsthand that every parent’s situation, support system, finances and education level are different - and that there is no one “right” way to do things. That experience shaped my approach deeply. It’s why Boob to Food offers guidance that is practical, flexible and non-judgemental. I want every parent to feel welcomed, supported and capable, no matter their starting point.
M & E: What’s a core principle or value behind Boob to Food that you hope resonates with others?
Feeding kids doesn’t need to be fancy or stressful. It’s about real, whole foods, offered with confidence and calm. I want mums to feel supported, not judged. Empowered, not overwhelmed. Seen, not compared. My hope is that parents walk away feeling lighter and more connected to their own intuition.
M & E: When you’re not creating content, helping parents or cooking, how do you recharge and find joy in everyday life?
Movement is my constant. I work out almost every day - it grounds me. I also lean heavily into simple pleasures: catching up with friends, family camping trips, dipping into the ocean, being outdoors. Those are the things that refill my cup and remind me who I am outside of my work.
M & E: Do you have a favourite ritual or daily non-negotiable that’s meaningful to you?
Yes - moving my body. Whether it’s the gym or a walk, it’s my daily reset. It’s the one part of the day that's just for me, and it helps me show up as a better mum, wife and human.
M & E: What’s one thing you hope Maurie & Eve readers take away from your story?
That you don’t need a perfect plan to follow the thing you feel pulled toward. Boob to Food didn’t start as a business - it started as me sharing my own journey, learning as I went, and wanting to make things easier for other mums. If something lights you up, let yourself follow it. You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin.
M & E: What’s next for you and Boob to Food? Any projects, ideas or dreams on the horizon?
There are definitely a few exciting things in the works, something very large launching June 2026… but you’ll have to keep watching to see where we go next. What I can say is that my heart is still firmly in the same place - helping parents feel confident, supported and less alone. Whatever comes next will always stay true to that.
