This week we’re catching up with Jane, the self-described accidental influencer turned travel host, who takes guests from all over the world. Just before she heads off to Morocco for a month, she shares the podcast she loves, the places she’s dreaming of, her morning ritual, and the love behind a little mum guilt.

Jane, tell us a little about you.

I’m a 60-year-old accidental influencer and content creator who has now morphed into a travel host, taking guests from all over the world to places such as Bhutan, Morocco and Greece. Instead of saying life is “busy,” I prefer to say life is “full,” and it certainly is. I never thought that at 60 I’d be living this kind of amazing life. What a gift.

Jane, what’s in your ears?

My fave podcast at the moment is Take 5 with Zan Rowe. She has some amazing guests, and I particularly liked listening to the episode with David Byrne from Talking Heads. Fascinating!

What’s living in your head?

I never travelled much in my youth, and really only started my travel journeys a few years ago after a life-changing trip to India. So far this year I’ve been to Indonesia, Portugal, Spain, Bhutan, Vietnam and Sri Lanka, and I’m about to go to Morocco for a month. I dream about going to Antarctica, Uzbekistan, Japan and so many more places. The magic of the world is constantly in my head, and I just want to experience as much of it as I can.

I think at my age, too, there’s an appreciation of time ticking, and also of the privilege we have living here in Australia. I know things are tough, but we really are the lucky country.

Jane, what have your hands been busy with?

Every morning I light a stick of my favourite incense, The Alchemist from Holy Smoke Incense, wave it around the house, and then meditate for 20 minutes. OK, not every day does the meditation happen, but the intent is always there!

Jane, what’s feeling true in your heart?

I have two sons, aged 27 and 22, and I’m wondering when the mum guilt goes away! I’m travelling so much now that sometimes I’m not around for get-togethers or important events. Even though they constantly tell me they’re proud of me, I still have that niggling guilt. I guess it’s a sign of love, and I do absolutely adore them and the fine young men they’ve become.

Thank you, Jane.
